Summer is over and the children will soon be returning to school. Despite the terrible weather during the last couple of months, all those who did attend a washed-out and postponed fishing derby and picnic had fun. Donations for the children's fishing derby were provided by numerous people; so many in fact that there are sufficient prizes left over for next year's event. Many thanks to all those who provided assistance with the various events such as the lake clean up, etc.
Rumours have been circulating concerning the possible closure of the Blue Sea dump but the mayor advises that no decision has been taken as to its future. Mr. Belanger did mention that plans are ongoing for the construction of a new firehouse, an improvement that will benefit all in the area.
Last, but not least, a big welcome to all the newcomers on the lake, we sincerely hope you will find the area to your liking.
Mark your calendars!
It's hard to believe that September is just around the corner, and that in a couple weeks the kids will be back in school. And it's really tough to think that the summer cottage season is drawing to a close for another year. Fall has its attractions, however, and there's always next year to look forward to.
We'll be looking forward to next summer at the APELL General Meeting on September 4th and planning a roster of activities for the 2005 season that will help keep our lake and our community healthy and happy.
Come out to the Salle des Loisirs to get together with your neighbours and hear more about:
We would also like to hear your ideas for next year's activities. Take a moment to complete the survey available on the website and bring it with you to the meeting. If you're not able to attend, please drop it in the mail or e-mail your comments to chris.trautt@apell.org.
If you're interested in getting more involved in APELL next year or would be willing to sit on the Executive, please e-mail david.adcock@apell.org for more information.

The APELL web site is back in operation at www.apell.org. Make sure you check it out and bookmark the new location.
Technical difficulties with the old site have prevented any updating in the past couple of years, but we're back in business and ready to keep you up to date on association news and information. Membership forms, clothing sales info, executive contact list, and past newsletters are all available anytime you need them.
There's lots of space available for photos, announcements, news items and links. If you have something you would like to see included on the site, e-mail it to ferd.trautt@apell.org. Both languages please, if you can! Material will be posted as quickly as possible after it's received.
The discussion forum is still in operation as well and is a great way to share news and information. It's also a terrific place to post want-ads if you've got something you'd like to sell, or are interested in buying something you think someone else might be willing to part with.
Finally, if you're interested in receiving copies of the newsletters and other information by e-mail, please send your current e-mail address to ferd.trautt@apell.org. An expanded and updated distribution list will be compiled.

This year's membership drive was a little less energetic than usual and as a result, our bank account is not as healthy as it should be at this point in the season. Those of you who weren't approached for dues, who would like to pay up for 2003-2004, are invited to send a cheque to the treasurer, Joanne Girard at 286 chemin du Lac Long or drop by her cottage at one weekend. Joanne can also be contacted by email at joanne.girard@apell.org.
The membership year runs from May 1 to April 30. Those who would like to get their 2004-2005 dues paid up in advance are likewise invited to send a cheque or drop by Joanne's cottage. We will make a better effort next spring to get in touch with everyone in time for the first meeting in June.
The membership form is available on the web site. Please don't forget to include your e-mail address if you have one.
Thank you to everyone who has already supported the Association this year!
Our supply of APELL membership cards is getting low, so it's time to get a new batch printed for next year. Before we do, however, wouldn't it be nice to freshen up our look with a new design?
If you have an idea, please get out your art supplies, draw it up and send it to Joanne Girard at joanne.girard@apell.org. She will do her best to incorporate it on the cards along with the APELL loon logo. The person who submits the winning design will get a free individual membership for the 2005 season.

The lake clean up took place on June 12, 2004. Despite having mentioned the date in the last newsletter and again at the general meeting on June 5, the turnout was not terrific. However, we did manage to pull out numerous logs that were floating in our lake. Once the log hauling was done, everyone was invited to Dave and Gisèle Adcock's place for a BBQ. Ummmm... nothing like hard labour to work up a big appetite!
We waited two weeks for the logs to dry out and then returned to the public access to cut them up. Again, there weren't a lot of people available and we thought we were facing a very long day's work, but thanks to Gilles Tremblay and his musketeers, we were able to finish up in time for a dinner served by Gisèle and her daughter-in-law Jenn.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to everyone who participated. We hope to see you next year, ready for more!

Due to bad weather, the annual fishing derby and children's picnic had to be postponed by one day. Only a few children attended, but they had a great time and enjoyed a wonderful choice of prizes donated by various APELL members. A big THANK YOU to Frank and Gaétane Capello, Rita and Gaston Tremblay, Jean-Pierre Gravel, Marcel Gravel, Lucie Tremblay, and Marc and Joanne Girard.
The kids started their day with the fishing tournament, which lasted until noon. The participants were:
At the picnic, the participants in the games included Martin Tremblay, Marie-Josée Tremblay, Catherine Loisseau, Véronique Girard, Ashley Walker, Cassandra Hickey and I must not forget my two big girls, Cara et Saro.
The gang played several games:
The kids won great prizes and finished up by eating a terrific lunch prepared by the adults.
